Community College District; Office 6 - Put in a new person in that office, Robert Nakahiro. He's an attorney, Roosevelt grad and a good guy that I have known since wll before he ran against Ed Reyes in CD-1 to replace Mike Hernandez (yes, that Mike Hernandez- Now CM Jan Perry's "Assistant Chief of Staff"). Robert just missed a runoff against Reyes by a handful of votes and Reyes took office in April 2001, and later became more aligned with Villaraigosa and Co. and that was that.
I always thought Robert was too honest and principled to mix in with all those Council-types and that's just my observation. It's a little stronger now about the Council with so much more in the way of observation examples to base it on.
Robert Nakahiro would bring a fresh body of thoughts and new person to the Community College board. Moving out the old-school folks would be what would put better ideas in place and get changes for the better.
Tina Park, a teacher and counselor, is running for the OTHER seat District 2 against the incumbent. A vote for her would be very useful.
Move out the incumbents, put in fresh thinking.
