"Texas Hold'em" LHS Alumni Fundraiser on Saturday

The Lincoln High School Alumni Association will be having the Texas Hold'em Fundraising event this Saturday afternoon in South Pasadena. This is not a "sport" that I am familiar with, and the Alumni Association is taking it's first plunge into this particular endeavor.

The number of players that the event can accommodate is 100. See the sidebar link under "Alumni Events" for details.

As I am not familiar with this as being a spectator activity generally, I can't give you any other information on what's involved, other than what I've been told. Prizes were being arranged and gambling for real money would not be happening since that would be a good way to risk a bust and messing up the day for lots of people.

UPCOMING EVENTS
There are some reunions coming up of assorted vintages of classmates (see sidebar) and there will be a Shakey's Pizza Night fundraising event in a month. The opening of scholl for the 2009-2010 academic year is right around the corner and this will bring football action to Lincoln in just a few weeks. Alumni involvement in the food booth is always a good place to mix up some visiting and a little bit of work for getting funds together that will eventually be returned to benefit students and the school.

LHS Alumni April Meeting on Saturday- Elections coming up soon

The LHS Alumni Association monthly meeting for April will be April 18th (the 3rd Saturday of the month) at 9:30 a.m. in the Student Cafeteria on campus. We have some elections coming up and are still taking nominations. Open offices include President and Secretary. Nominations are continuing.

There will be discussions on upcoming events and any changes or details that are happening can be discussed.

New attendees are encouraged and welcomed. That includes alumni and friends. Interested faculty, staff or administrators, too, of course, would be a nice addition. Any paid memberships can be made in person, too, on Saturday.

One more week of classes for Lincoln High in 2008

Only more week in 2008 until classes end for the year at Lincoln and the 3-week Christmas (or, officially, "Winter") break begins, with a return date of Monday, January 12, 2009. As December arrived, the Lincoln High Alumni Association ("LHAA") provided the school with a gift of a Christmas tree to decorate and create a more festive school setting in celebration of the holiday season. Alumnus Marco Robles deserves much credit on his personal effort and involvement needed to obtain the tree and deliver it to its Lincoln High destination this year on behalf of the LHAA.
