Vote Today- Here's a Polling Place Finder to help.

Vote today instead of just complaining later. Then you can still complain later, but you participated in the process.

Don't have your polling place location?
They do move from time to time, so you can check this simple-to-use "Polling Place Finder" from the L.A. County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk

"Sample Ballots" can be selected from that polling place page if you don't have that already.

Community College part of the ballot (if you are in the District)

TWO OFFICES UP FOR ELECTION-

Vote for Tina Park

Vote for Robert Nakahiro

City Attorney for Los Angeles

Vote for Carmen Trutanich, and forget about Jack Weiss's attempt to change his spots after two terms of failing to serve his CD's population.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Props, all should be NO unless you want to have higher taxes and bigger debt in the future.

Some parts of the language in the ballot really should send out a warning to you that there's danger:
The "borrowing" of $5 BILLION from future lottery money? "BORROWING" and "BONDS" will usually cost at least double the face amount to the public for money to pay back. $5 Billion means a COST to the public of $10 Billion to $15 Billion that is to be paid back. Not economical.

What "sounds nice" is supposed to sound "nice" to get your vote. Beware and reject more financial obligations. Examples of the high speed rail that won't be operating for years, if at all, and the MTA transit measures of recent elections already are costing us now and the Sales Taxes will continue to rise as a constant reminder, along with other taxes.

These tax measures really are not easily understood and for that reason alone, you should reject them.

You know they are trying to slip something by when it's not clearly stated.

LATINO POLITICAL FIGURES

Gil Cedillo is running to fill the office vacated by Hilda Solis. Don't let him in. His lavish and self-indulgent spending is a clear sign that he's hopped onto the gravy train and he doesn't want to get off. Being in public office should be done with some personal restraint and thoughtfulness about what your constituents are doing and need.

Cedillo treats public service as getting the key to the candy shop, being on vacation and all things that focus on himself and his own enjoyment first- and the constituents come in later on down the priority list. The people that hand over money to allow Cedillo to do such spending aren't doing it as a substitute Santa Claus but as an investment for future needs in the political process.

Those are special interests, the ones that rank above the constituents in the priority list for Cedillo's attentions. That's how people get to be career politicians.

----------------------

If Cedillo wins, look for Ed Reyes, CD-1 (includes Lincoln Heights) to run to fill that vacancy- he's already filed papers for that office.

Now if Cedillo loses, there is some mention that he will run for L.A. Council- possibly for the several termed-out spots arising that will include Ed Reyes' post.

That's a small sample. It's like that all the time and that's why you can see the only thing missing is the music.

Final Vote Count Leaves Solar Measure B defeated. Runoff election coming.

The final vote is in from the March 3rd election and it's final- Solar Measure B is dead, just over 2,000 votes difference decided "No" on this DWP Union-crafted proposal. It would have limited work to only the IBEW union and included a DWP job training program for prospective workers to add to the union ranks, along with an unknown cost that consumers would have to bear. This hastily passed proposal also would have changed the City Charter to give more spending authority to the Mayor- a provision that's a disaster standing all on its own.

The additional ballots amounted to 49,000 more besides the ones cast on March 3rd, including Absentee ballots and provision ballots that were because of damaged ballots, absentee ballots not received, and voters registered but not listed.

The runoff election will be Tuesday, May 19, 2009 to settle the CD-5 council seat between David Vahedi and Paul Koretz. Another position in the runoff is the City Attorney spot. The race is between Carmen Trutanich and Jack Weiss. Weiss really has no business running for this office if you know his history. He is running because Mayor Tony needs more support in government and Jack is a his loyal "Yes-Man" that he can control.

Trutanich is the more experienced lawyer and did not have his attorney practice stopped for 7-1/2 years like Weiss did while serving as Council Member for CD-5, being vacated by Weiss under term limits. Chief Bratton, another official beholden to Tony for his position, naturally support Weiss, so that should be ignored as a hollow endorsement.

Currently, Weiss is on his best behavior, in attendance at Council meetings and speaking up on matters to be more visible as the election nears. He was often absent or disengaged during meetings, and he behavior pushed Zine to say, "Vote for ANYBODY but Jack Weiss. Jack Weiss would be a disaster for the City." I whole-heartedly agree.
