Music- February 1977-style memories, and then some.

Getting the news today makes it no wonder why people are leaving- rising taxes and fees imposed by state and local governments, politician's double-talking and lying to people who put them into office, and crime in L.A. that Mayor Villaraigosa somehow says, "L.A. is safer than it's been since the 1950's." Whoa.

So let's enjoy taking a little break from that while I bring up a glimpse of the PAST in a music setting. Today's section is from Don Barrett's subscriber-supported L.A. RADIO People, http://www.laradio.com/ - today taking thoughts back to a time, deep into the disco era:

Top Five Flashback, February 4, 1977: Torn Between Two Lovers by Mary MacGregor, Car Wash by Rose Royce, Dazz by Brick, New Kid In Town by the Eagles, Hot Line by the Sylvers. (LARP Rewind prepared by Steve Thompson)

Along the sidebar on this blog, there's a link to a real memory jogger, "Anth-ology" http://www.stanford.edu/~ahom/anth-ology.html an old site, and like the music, it's still giving you a nice jump to the past, in the lists, by years and month, of those great and not-so-great songs, artists and dates first released.

I forgot how many songs came out in that disco period, a style that some hate and others just can't forget, with some good times attached to the tunes. It's music that still gets people moving, if only just by some foot-tapping. There's more there on "Antho-logy" for other decades that will surely bring out the reaction, "Is that song THAT old?", or like the even-older alumni can say about oldies, "I remember when that song was NEW."

Like I said, just a break from more information while heading to the March 3rd City Election.
