Reminder: Meeting of the Alumni Association at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 14th at 9:30 in Room 201 at LHS.

Any and everyone invited to meeting. A little pot luck for refreshments before and during the meeting. Casino Night is an upcoming event included on the agenda.

The LHS Asian students celebrated the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Monkey with special dance and martial arts presentations for the students and faculty in the Auditorium on Friday, February 13, 2004. Included in the program was the Gates Street Elementary dance group which performed the visually impressive dance. The program began with the entrance of four Chinese dragons, proceeding through the audience up to the stage with a very vivid and entertaining dance. There were two performances given which brought another cultural element into the school environment.

Holiday Monday, Presidents' Day. Lincoln's Birthday Yesterday. Absent from school events was any formal celebration or acknowledgment of the birthday of the person for whom our school is named. Some basic facts to refresh your memory:

Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States. Born 1809 on February 12th. The Civil War ended on April 9, 1865, and President Lincoln died four days later on April 14, 1865 after being shot by John Wilkes Booth. an actor who sympathized with the South. President Lincoln was attending a play at Ford's Theater in Washington, D.C. on Good Friday and was shot by the assailant who fired at him from behind at close range. Abraham Lincoln was the first President of the United States to be assassinated.
