LAUSD is on the Spring Break (aka Easter Vacation)

With all the things going on in the City Council affairs, or maybe I should say "city business and budget concerns," lest that be taken literally, I didn't notice that the LAUSD schools up and went on their "Spring Break" this week. I prefer the original term, "Easter Vacation" that was used for years before since it wasn't meant as any sort of expression of a degradation of anything. And no matter what anyone calls it, you wind up with some vacation time all the same. We use too many code names and political correctness euphemisms that really make communications less clear these days.

So if you wonder why traffic conditions may have changed or why there's so many young people out during the day with or without their parents or guardians as their ages may dictate, this is it. Catholic schools will take their vacation after Easter Sunday coming up. Other districs like Alhambra still are in session and will be out next week.

This condition changes again on Monday so enjoy the relief in traffic conditions, or keep cool with any added work if you have the younger students home this week.

Did Easter Vacation for blogging begin? Spring Break for most of LAUSD

The blog post that were coming pretty regularly hit a bump in the road with some technical annoyances and time demands that kept some good posts still in draft stages. (I may still use some of those topics since what they show still continues to happen or is still a concern).

The past week was non-political in events that came up like April Fool's day and some good weather. A memory in the area of music I want to mention is that on April 1, 1984, singer Marvin Gaye was killed by his father. It was a huge tragedy in simple terms of family life and relations alone, without even considering the musical talent lost that day. The next day, April 2, 1984, was his birthday. Marvin Gaye would have been 45 years old. And that was all 25 years ago.

The week ended with the LAUSD students on the traditional track going on "Spring Break" aka "Easter Vacation" and they will be back in class on April 13th, the day after Easter.

At Lincoln High on April 16th, Thursday of that week, there will be an official "Open House" from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.. Usually the same thing is called "parents conference" or some other label, but this should be a little more along the lines of having some things that the students have prepared for the event.
